About MendiGoPhones.com
Cell phones are one of the more popular
items. Anyone who has lost or damaged a cell
phone and gone into their local retailer can
tell you a new cell phone can cost from
$150-$1.000.
MendiGo offers prices many times under half
of retail. Used and reconditioned cell
phones can often be a cheap way to replace
your phone or buying one for the first time.
All MendiGo used and reconditioned phones
are guaranteed to work on Costa Rica's only
cellular telephone network run by the state
telecom, the Instituto Costarricense de
Electricidad (
ICE). Many of the cell phones
sold on MendiGo are
ASOFAC certified.
Buying a cell phone on line like on Ebay can
save you money, but before buying you
need to know what will work for on the ICE
network. And, well frankly, you cannot know
that or be guaranteed by the eBay seller
that it does, until you have it in your
hands and visit an ICE agency or approved
retailer to get connected.
In addition, your eBay purchase will be
subject to the 13% sales tax in Costa Rica
and customs* charges and shipping and
handling charges that can add up to 25% or
more of the cost of your purchase.
Another issue is, is the cell phone
UNLOCKED? and is it operating on the RIGHT
BAND? If the phone is LOCKED - that is the
bands have been locked by the vendor with a
special code and not the factory code
- the phone is useless on Costa Rica's
cellular network, which will mean an added
cost to unlock it, if possible.
At MendiGo we only sell UNLOCKED cell phones
that have already been tested for
use on the ICE Network.
All cell phones come with an IMEI
(International Mobile Equipment Identity), a
number, usually unique, to identify mobile
phones. It is usually found printed inside
the battery compartment of the phone. It can
also be displayed on the screen of the phone
by entering *#06# into the keypad on most
phones.
This code makes the phone unique, and if
buying a used phone in Costa Rica, the IMEI
is used by ICE to block out any phones
reported lost or stolen, where only the
registered owner of the phone can have the
blocking removed. If you were to have
purchased such a phone, you may also be
subject to a criminal investigation or
charges.
At MendiGo there is no concern, we only sell
cell phones that have been owned by us or
our associated or have been purchased by
reliable vendors and have already been
tested for use in Costa Rica.
Need a Phone Fast? If you absolutely
need a phone as soon as possible, MendiGo
can have you your new used or reconditioned
cell phone in minutes to your place of work
or home or anywhere in San José and without
hours anywhere in Costa Rica.
We ship all our purchases by messengers to
your door in San José. For deliveries
outside of San José, we can ship to your
door by courier that can take a day or two,
depending on your location or for immediate
delivery by bus to the nearest bus station
to your location.
We
hope this has been some help to someone out
there looking to buy a cell phone. This is a
great place for finding a bargain on a used
cell phone if that's what you need.
* Customs charges are based on the value
that the Costa Rican customs department
places on the phone, not necessarily related
to the amount you paid or invoiced by the
seller. |
